PONTE VERDA BEACH, Fla. - Junior R.J. Keur shot an even par 72 on the final day of the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational to finish tied for 14th overall at Sawgrass Country Club.
Keur had a consistent weekend as he shot a 74 (+2) on Friday, followed by a 73 (+1) on Saturday. He rounded out his performance with an even par to notch his first top-15 finish as a Blazer. Keur tallied 10 birdies and 13 bogeys overall to finish the tournament at +3.
The Blazers placed 11th as a team and were hampered by a tough Sunday which dropped them five spots in the final standings. Taylor Eyster finished the tournament tied for 23rd, while Tim Harry finished tied for 40th.
Redshirt freshmen Murray Naysmith and William Walker rounded our UAB’s efforts with a 68th and 73rd place finish, respectively.
The hosts of the tournament, North Florida, captured the team title, while Jacksonville, UCF, Campbell and Liberty rounded out the top five. Individually, Peter Kim of Army took home the championships by shooting six under.
The Blazers are back in action in eight days when they travel to Bluffton, S.C. for the Collation River Collegiate on Monday and Tuesday, March 6-7.
