The Return’s Top 10: No. 7 - UAB Tops Rice to Earn Bowl Eligibility

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - One of the best locker room celebrations in all of college football this season came when the Blazers defeated Rice at home to earn bowl eligibility for just the fifth time in program history.
The Blazers proved people wrong all season, and becoming bowl eligible was one of those moments when the nation took notice.
UAB scored a touchdown on its first six possessions of the game versus the Owls and took a 42-7 lead into halftime en route to a 52-21 victory. The 52 points were a season high.
A.J. Erdely was nearly flawless that game as he set a Conference USA record for completion percentage, while C-USA Freshman of the Year Spencer Brown had 129 of his 140 yards and all three of his touchdowns in the first half.
That win made UAB bowl eligible for just the fifth time in program history and in both seasons under the direction of Bill Clark.
UAB's postgame celebration video went viral as ESPN, SB Nation, Bleacher Report and Sports Illustrated, just to name a few, shared or reposted the video.
The Blazers are 15 days away from playing Ohio University in the 2017 Bahamas Bowl. Tickets for the game are on sale by clicking here, as are season tickets for 2018 by clicking here.
