Daugherty, Green Named to United Soccer Coaches All-Scholar Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UAB junior goalkeeper Kelsey Daugherty and senior forward Rachel Green were both selected to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women's Scholar All-South Region Team on Tuesday.
 
Daugherty owns a 3.71 grade point average in kinesiology and served as one of the top keepers in the NCAA this season. In fact, Daugherty earned All-Conference USA First Team accolades after leading the league with a 0.76 goals against average and a .856 save percentage. The Kennesaw, Ga., native was also third in the conference with seven shutouts and 95 saves.
 
Green features a 3.76 grade point average in marketing and was selected to the All-Conference USA Second Team. She started all 19 games and ranked third on the team with 17 points on seven goals and three assists. Additionally, she was tied for 10th in Conference USA in goals and was sixth in the league with three game-winning goals. The Peachtree City, Ga., native was also selected as the C-USA Offensive Player of the Week once during the season.
 
Both Daugherty and Green were each selected to the Conference USA All-Academic First Team in November.
 
Overall, UAB (13-4-3, 7-2-1) finished one of its best seasons in school history and featured one of the top turnarounds in the NCAA, winning nine more games than all of last season and recording the most victories since 2004. In addition, the Blazers went from just one Conference USA win in 2016 to seven this season.
 
Head Coach Erica Demers set a school record for wins by a first-year head coach with 13, surpassing the previous record of 12 set by Paul Harbin in 1996.
