BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After earning bowl eligibility for the fifth time in program history, UAB accepting an invitation to play in the 2017 Bahamas Bowl checks in at No. 4 on the top 10 moments of the 2017 season.
The storybook year will conclude on Dec. 22 when UAB plays Ohio in its second-ever bowl game. A win would give the Blazers their first postseason victory as well.
UAB didn't have to wait for their bowl destination like the rest of the nation had to on Dec. 3 as the Blazers accepted their bid on Nov. 26, a day after their 28-7 victory over UTEP to conclude the regular season. With the help of ESPN's Marty Smith, UAB made the official announcement at the men's basketball game during a timeout as Coach Clark and a few seniors were recognized on the court.
The Blazers (8-4) will depart for their postseason paradise on Monday, Dec. 18 and face Ohio University (8-4) for the first time in program history. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN at 11:30 a.m. CST with Steve Levy, Desmond Howard and Laura Rutledge on the call.
A reminder to fans traveling for the game that a valid U.S. passport is required for the Bahamas. Tickets for the game are available by clicking here.
The Countdown:
No. 10: House Party with Sam Hunt
No. 9: A.J. Erdely sets a Conference USA record
No. 8: UAB sets a program record with eight FBS wins
No. 7: Blazers defeat Rice to become bowl eligible
No. 6: UAB goes 6-0 at home
No. 5: Spencer Brown's 209-yard performance at Southern Miss
