BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Coming off its best finish at the C-USA Cross County Championships since 2010, the UAB cross county team travels to Tuscaloosa, Ala. to race in the NCAA South Regional at the Harry Pritchett Running Park.
The Blazers finished fourth overall at the conference meet two weeks ago, the best finish for a UAB cross county team since 2010. Senior Emily Drouin led the squad this season finishing fifth.
Sarah Livett and Rebecca Evans finished 10th and 13th respectively and earned Second Team All-Conference honors. Drouin garnered First Team All-Conference and won the Outstanding Senior award.
Drouin, Livett, Bethan Evans, Marielle Lewis, Serena Martinez and Karlee Stortz all set new PRs for UAB at the conference meet.
From The Coach's Desk:
"We just had one of our best weekends in a long time and we are looking to carry that momentum into the regional race," head coach Matt Esche said. "The girls are fresh, rested and looking to have another big weekend."
Last Time at the NCAA South Regional:
The Green and Gold placed 19th out of 30 teams in the 2016 South Regional hosted in Tallahasse, Fla. However, UAB returns its top three runners from last season in Drouin, Livett and Rebecca Evans. Those three with the addition of the young runners have turned in one of the best cross county seasons in recent memory and they will look to continue that trend this weekend.
