Keur and Eyster Pace Men’s Golf on Day One at Jerry Pate National

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Seniors R.J. Keur and Taylor Eyster shot even and one over par, respectively, to lead the UAB men's golf team in the first two rounds of the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate at Old Overton on Monday.
Keur shot consecutive 70's to finish his day at even par and is in a tie for 19th headed into tomorrow's final 18 holes. Eyster shot a two over 72 on the opening 18 holes, and put together a strong second round shooting a one under 69. Overall, he enters the final round at +1 and in a tie for 23rd.
William Walker battled all day to a +3, which saw him shoot a 72 in round one and a 71 in round two.
The Blazers finished +10 as a team and sit alone in 8th place overall. The Blazers shot +7 in the first round (287) and followed that up with a +3 (283) in the second.
The field is loaded with nationally ranked teams, including No. 4 Alabama who leads the tournament at -16. No. 7 Baylor is two strokes behind the Tide at -14, while No. 21 BYU (-9), No. 16 Arkansas (-5) and No. 11 Auburn (E) round out the top five.
Mason Overstreet of Arkansas leads all individual golfers at -10 after shooting consecutive rounds of 65. Kyle Mueller of Michigan is one stroke behind at -9, which included a seven under 63 in the second round.
The tournament concludes tomorrow with a final 18 at Old Overton, as the Blazers tee off at 8:50 a.m. and will be paired with Michigan and South Alabama. Live results can be tracked here.
