Men’s Golf Places Ninth at Jerry Pate National

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB men's golf team finished ninth overall at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate in the 54-hole tournament at Old Overton.
Senior R.J. Keur paced the Blazers by finishing in a tie for 21st at +3. Keur (70-70-73 = 213) has now led or shared the team lead in all three of UAB's tournaments this season.
William Walker was UAB's second finisher and tied for 31st overall. Walker (72-71-72 - 215) shot +5 overall for the tournament.
Freshman John Ricciatti moved up 10 places in Tuesday's final round with an even par 70 and he finished the tournament at +8 overall (73-75-70 = 218). Today's round of 70 was his second lowest round of his young career (69 at the Badger Invitational).
Freshman Nick Robillard (74-74-73 = 220, +10) and senior Taylor Eyster (72-69-80 = 221, +11) rounded out UAB's efforts.
The Blazers shot +18 overall as a team. No. 4 Alabama won the tournament, while No. 11 Auburn, No. 7 Baylor, No. 21 BYU and No. 16 Arkansas rounded out the top five.
Individually, Shintaro Ban of UNLV and Mason Overstreet of Arkansas shared top honors at -10.
The Blazers continue action in two weeks when they participate in the Tavistock Collegiate in Windermere, Fla., Oct. 22-24.
