BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB women's golf continues its fall season on Monday and Tuesday in historic Pinehurst at the College of Charleston's Pinehurst Challenge.
"We are thrilled to be playing on Pinehurst #1 which is an original David Ross design," head coach Kim Wilcox said. "It is a competitive field. The girls have been working hard and we hope to capitalize on their diligence."
Maria Donado headlines the UAB lineup once again. The junior has a team best 74.7 stroke average and has two top-10 finishes underneath her belt this season.
Sydney Snodgrass will play as the No. 2 in the order this week. Snodgrass carries a 76.3 stroke average after nine rounds this fall.
Kenna Hughes looks to continue her stellar sophomore season. Hughes joins Donado and Kayla Wilbourn as the only golfers to have yet to shoot a round in the 80s this fall.
Imy Huxley will also make the trip. After not seeing much time on the course last season she has started in all four of the Blazers' events this fall.
Juliana Sebastian reenters the UAB lineup after taking last week off. Through six rounds this fall, Sebastian carries a 78.0 stroke average.
The biggest storyline of this week's tournament is the location. The Pinehurst Resort is home to nine courses and has hosted various major golf tournaments over the years including the 2014 U.S. Men's and Women's Open, the 1951 Ryder Cup and the 1991 and 1992 PGA Tour Championship.
Golfers will play 36 holes on Monday followed by the closing 18 on Tuesday. A shotgun start will begin at 8:30 on Monday off of course No. 1.
Joining the Blazers at Pinehurst this week is Charleston Southern, Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, East Carolina, Elon, Georgia State, Jacksonville, Jacksonville State, JMU, Maryland, Nebraska, North Florida, Old Dominion, Presbyterian, Samford, Townson, UNCG and William & Mary.
