IRVING, Texas – On the heels of a weekend that saw the UAB women's soccer team post wins over Middle Tennessee and WKU, junior Kelsey Daugherty was selected as the Conference USA Goalkeeper of the Week and sophomore Natalie Presedo was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Daugherty opened the weekend with four saves against Middle Tennessee to lead UAB to a 2-1 victory on Senior Night. The Kennesaw, Ga., native followed that performance with another four saves Sunday against WKU en route to her seventh shutout of the season.

"This was a great way to end the weekend leading into the conference tournament," Daugherty said. "We had so many different players contribute this weekend and that gives us a lot of confidence going into tournament play."

Daugherty, who has now been named C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week four times, ended the regular season first in Conference USA with a 0.75 goals against average and second in saves (90) and shutouts.

"Kelsey has continued to be a rock for us in goal and continues to push herself to become better each day," UAB head coach Erica Demers said.

Presedo started both games over the weekend and picked up her first career assist Friday against the Blue Raiders. She logged 119 minutes during the two games and helped the Blazers record their most wins in a season since 2004.

"I feel really blessed to play under such a great coaching staff that does everything possible to make us better and smarter players," Presedo said. "I'm also appreciative of all the girls I play with, and it's because of them that I am fortunate enough to win this award. It wouldn't be possible without my teammates."

"I am so happy for Natalie," Demers added. "Both her and Megan Morrow do so much work for us in our backline and play massive roles for us moving our lines forward. I'm glad to see that individuals are recognizing her constant effort."

UAB returns to the pitch Wednesday at 6 p.m. when the third-seeded Blazers face No. 6 seed Florida Atlantic in the opening round of the Conference USA Tournament.
