Blazers Primed for Big Weekend at ITA Southern Regional

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Having not played in almost two weeks, the UAB men's tennis team returns to the court on Thursday for the weekend-long ITA Southern Regionals in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The annual tournament features some of the best players from around the country in 12 regional locations with a chance for players to play at the ITA National Championships.
UAB posted multiple impressive performances at the 2016 ITA Southern Regional in Auburn, Alabama, paced by former Blazer Eric Komati who claimed the consolation singles bracket title with three victories on the final day of the of the tournament.
Over the course of the 2016 event, Komati and Christian Coetzee earned a doubles victory before falling to Mississippi State, while Kenton Parton won his match over Alabama's Hayes Brewer, before falling in the Round of 64.
The Green and Gold's most dominant performer during the 2017 fall season has been Tim Dollman, who has posted a 7-1 record in singles play including a 6-2, 6-2 win over 79th-ranked Kennosuki Nouchi out of Western Michigan at the ITA All-American Championship.
Dollman is 3-0 in doubles play this season.
Parton is currently 5-1 in singles play during the fall season, while Stefan Gonzalez is 3-0 in doubles play with Dollman to lead the team.
