HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The UAB women’s basketball teams returns to Hattiesburg, Miss. for the 32nd time in program history to take on Southern Miss at Reed Green Coliseum Saturday. Tip between the Blazers and Eagles is slated for 4 p.m.

- Freshman Rachael Childress is hitting a league-best 3.6 3-pointers per game in conference-only play; Childress needs nine 3-pointers to crack UAB’s record book for most 3-point field goals made in a season

SCOUTING SOUTHERN MISS
Southern Miss, fresh off of a 20-point victory over Middle Tennessee, boasts a 12-8 record overall and 4-4 mark in C-USA. The Golden Eagles average 70.4 points per contest and are shooting 43.4 percent (519-of-1197) from the field. They lead the league is steals per game (12.2) and turnover margin (+5.6).
Brittanny Dinkins paces the offense with 18.2 points per game and in league play alone she averages 21.5 points per contest. The senior is shooting 49.6 percent (141-of-284) from the field, dishes out 4.1 assists per game and swipes a league-best 3.9 steals per game. Dinkins’ 10 steals against Old Dominion on Jan. 12 is the most in a game by a player in C-USA this season.
Jayla King ranks second on the team with 11.1 points per game, but is reeling in a team best 7.5 rebounds per game. King’s 18 rebounds at UTSA on Jan. 5 is the most by a player in the league this season. In league play only, King is shooting a team-best 50.0 percent (30-of-60) from the field.
LAST TIME OUT
UAB – The UAB women’s basketball team saw a 16-point lead fade away as it fell to Louisiana Tech 64-63 at the Thomas Assembly Center. Rachael Childress’ 15 points led the Blazers while Katelynn Thomas reeled in a career-high seven boards.
Southern Miss – Southern Miss women’s basketball team exhausted Middle Tennessee for an 81-61 win. Brittanny Dinkins scored a team-high 21 points and dished out five assists.
ON DECK
The Blazers return to Bartow Arena Thursday night to play host to UTEP. Tip between the Blazers and Miners is set for 7 p.m. The weekend continues with a Saturday matinee featuring UTSA and tip slated for 2 p.m.
