UAB Welcomes Middle Tennessee for First Conference Match

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB volleyball team welcomes Middle Tennessee to Bartow Arena at 7 p.m. on Friday evening to open Conference USA play.

The Series
UAB leads the all-time series 13-8 against Middle Tennessee. The last time the two teams played, the Blue Raiders defeated the Blazers 3-0 in Bartow Arena.
The Blazers are coming off a 0-3 weekend where they hosted the Fight Like Hal Memorial Invitational. UAB dropped matches to UL Lafayette, UT Martin and Memphis.
Erika Zembyla and Haley Jared continue to lead the Blazers' offense. Zembyla has recorded 169 kills (3.25 kills/set) for a .167 attack percentage while Jared has struck 160 kills (2.96 kills/set) for a .182 mark.
Amber Treace paces the offense with 582 assists and a .317 hitting percentage. She also ranks fourth on the squad with 34 total blocks.
Victoria Young leads the Blazers defensively and ranks fifth in the conference with 58 total blocks (1.09 blocks/set). Petra Silic is hot on her heels with 50 total blocks (0.93 blocks/set) and is third on the team with 128 kills (2.37 kills/set).
Emily Martinez has led the Blazers' backline this season recording 243 digs (4.42 digs/set), the sixth best mark in the conference.
Scouting Middle Tennessee
The Blue Raiders bring a 3-10 record into the match and was last in action at the VCU Invitational where they went 1-2, defeating Morgan State 3-1 and dropping the final two matches against VCU and Liberty.
Bailey Mason leads the Middle Tennessee offense with 97 kills for a .116 attack percentage and Jacqueline Lux controls the offense with 265 assists. Defensively, Delaney Gallagher has a team-high 26 blocks and Meg Irvin has recorded 98 digs for the Blue Raiders.
A Look Ahead
UAB will host UTEP on Sunday, Sept. 25 at Bartow Arena at 1 p.m.

The UAB volleyball team will be having a Dads and Daughters Day on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 1 p.m. vs. UTEP. All dads and daughters pairings will receive free youth tickets with an adult ticket purchase and free food vouchers.
