Blazers Complete Run at NCAA National Championship Sunday

EUGENE, Ore. -- The UAB men's golf team ended its season Sunday at the NCAA National Championship in Eugene, Oregon. The team shot 303 in the third round, landing them at 62-over for the tournament.
Senior Martin Rohwer carded his best round of the tournament, shooting 74 to put him at four-over on the day and 20-over for the week. He birdied three holes and parred eight.
Sophomore Lee Hodges finished tied for 85th following his third-round 74. He shot 10-over for the week to pace the UAB field. He birdied two holes and broke even on 10 Sunday.
Senior Will Cannon placed second on the team at 11-over for the tournament after shooting 77 in the third round. Cannon parred nine holes -- seven of the front nine -- and birdied one.

Thoughts on the tournament
"Overall it was a disappointing week for us as we expected to play much better. But golf is a tough game. We had too many boys have a really bad week, which can happen in golf. In team golf you hope they don't have a bad week at the same time, but sadly for us that's what happened this week. It was a real championship test this week on a superb course, and it lets you know just how good you are. Our lads will have learned a great deal about themselves and their golf games this week. It will be fuel for them going forward and should give them a pretty clear indication of what they need to work on to improve for the future."
On the season
"To make it back to the national championship for the third year in a row was a good accomplishment for this team. We will look back and say the year was more of a success than a failure. We managed to win our tournament for the first time and managed third at regionals being the highlights."
