Hicklen Named to C-USA All-Academic Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- UAB baseball's Brewer Hicklen was named to the Conference USA Baseball All-Academic Team, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
In order to be eligible for the recognition, student-athletes must hold a 3.2 cumulative grade point average, be of at least sophomore academic standing and be a starter of key reserve for their team.
The Blazers' outfielder started all 55 games in 2016, totaling 58 hits, 14 extra-base hits and was 22-for-28 in stolen bases. He ranked first on the team with 37 runs scored, a .408 slugging percentage and .413 on-base percentage.
In the classroom, the redshirt freshman owns a 3.71 GPA. The information systems major has appeared on the Dean's List three times and Athletic Director's Honor Roll four times in four semesters at UAB. The All-Academic nod is his third C-USA honor, receiving spots on the Commissioner's Honor Roll each of the last two years.
