BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB baseball team concludes its non-conference schedule tonight in a midweek contest against Auburn. First pitch between the Blazers and Tigers is set for 6 p.m. at Plainsman Park.
SERIES HISTORY
Auburn lead the all-time series 45-9 and has taken the last 17 meeting with the Blazers. It is the longest active streak in the UAB baseball record book. The last time the Green and Gold claimed a baseball win over Auburn was March 23, 1994. The Blazers won 9-3 at home. The two teams last met last season at Regions Field. Auburn claimed a narrow 6-4 win over the Green and Gold.
UAB'S STARTING PITCHER
LHP Dylan Munger (1-2, 4.05 ERA)
AUBURN'S STARTING PITCHER
RHP Daniel Sprinkle (1-1, 5.74 ERA)
THE BLAZERS
The Blazers (19-32, 10-17 C-USA) step out of Conference USA one last time before traveling to Charlotte to wrap up the regular season. It has been a rough ride for the Blazers lately, getting swept in back-to-back C-USA series by Marshall and FIU. UAB is looking to snap an eight-game losing streak tonight on the Plains.
GUM CONTINUES OFFENSIVE TEAR, HITTING STREAK
Senior outfielder Griffin Gum continued his dominance at the plate over the weekend with five hits in 13 trips to the plate. Batting .385 against the Panthers, Gum tallied two runs, two extra-base hits and three RBIs. His final home at-bat of his career was a three-run home run in the eighth inning Sunday that kept the Panthers from claiming a run-rule victory prior to the ninth inning. Gum has now hit safely in 14 consecutive games.
FRESHMAN PHARIS SETTING THE PACE
Following a four-hit weekend, freshman infielder Carter Pharis now leads the UAB offense with a .294 average and 16 extra-base hits. Pharis' 52 hits rank third on the team, while his 33 RBIs are tops in the lineup.
BLAZERS VS. THE SEC
The Blazers go into Tuesday night's game with a 1-3 record against SEC opponents. No. 8 Ole Miss took two games from the Green and Gold at home in March, while Alabama and UAB split their series 1-1. The Blazers downed No. 22 Alabama 8-0 at Regions Field in March, but the Tide evened the score in Tuscaloosa with a 7-6 victory.
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
The Tigers (22-30, 9-18 ERA) go into the game also looking to snap a losing streak. Auburn is on a four-game skid, dropping a 7-3 game to Kennesaw State and suffering a sweep vs. Mississippi State.
The Tigers currently stand in 12th place in the SEC with 3 games remaining. If the season ended today, Auburn would be the 12 seed in the SEC Tournament & face No. 5 Ole Miss (8 pm, 5/24).

Senior outfielder Jackson Burgreen has reached base in a career-high 21 consecutive games. In that stretch, he is batting .282 with 16 runs, six XBH, 10 RBI and 15 walks.

ON DECK
The Blazers bus to Charlotte, N.C., following Tuesday's game for their final C-USA series of the season. UAB takes on the 49ers in a three-game set Thursday - Saturday to close out the regular season. If UAB finishes in the top eight, the C-USA Baseball Championships are scheduled for May 25 - 29 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
