Blazers Head to C-USA Outdoor Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB track and field team takes part in its final team meet of the season this weekend when the Blazers travel to Murfreesboro, Tenn., to take part in the Conference USA Outdoor Championships from Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium.
Competition opens Thursday at 1:30 p.m. with the heptathlon and will feature UAB's Hannah Hensley, Ali Meister and Jimmeshia Wilder. Hensley placed fourth in the event during the C-USA Indoor Championships, while Meister took sixth place with a career-best 3411 points.
Day two begins Friday at 1:30 p.m. with the conclusion of the decathlon. Field events begin at 2 p.m. with the women's hammer throw and continue Saturday at 3 p.m. with the long jump.
Senior Lucy Crookes, who was All-Conference USA at the indoor championships, will compete in the 10,000 meters Friday at 8 p.m.
Running events start Saturday at 4 p.m. with the women's 1500 meters and conclude for the night at 8:20 p.m. with the men's 3000-meter steeplechase.
Sunday marks the final day of the meet and begins at 12:30 p.m. with the women's javelin throw. Running events start at 3:30 p.m. with the women's 4x100 meter relay. The men's 4x400 meter relay is the final event of the meet and is scheduled for 7 p.m.
"Conference championships are always a tremendous opportunity to show off all the hard work the ladies have put in all year," UAB associate coach Matt Esche said. "Everyone competing this weekend has positioned themselves to do something special, and we expect to see many of them win individual titles, earn all-conference accolades and score multiple points."
