UAB (26-5) captured the Conference USA men's regular-season title and earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament and is scheduled to face either No. 8 seed WKU or No. 9 seed North Texas on Thursday at noon.
The Blazers finished the regular season Saturday with a win at Florida Atlantic to secure single-season school records in wins (26), Conference USA wins (16) and road wins (10).

Last season, UAB captured its first Conference USA Tournament title following wins over WKU, Louisiana Tech and Middle Tennessee to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The 14th-seeded Blazers would go on to knock off No. 3 seed Iowa State in the second round behind 21 points from Robert Brown.
"There is no better way to represent the city of Birmingham than through the conference tournament," Brown said. "We not only play for UAB, but also for the city of Birmingham. Everyone is excited to start playing Thursday with huge crowds supporting us."
The UAB women's team begins its quest for a Conference USA Tournament championship Wednesday at 11 a.m. against Southern Miss. The Blazers are 10-3 this season at Bartow Arena and are outscoring opponents by 15.5 points per game in Birmingham.
"We are very excited to host the Conference USA Tournament and have another chance to play in Bartow Arena," UAB women's head coach Randy Norton said. "It's great for UAB and the city of Birmingham.
