Rohwer Ties for Sixth at John Hayt Collegiate Invitational

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – The UAB men’s golf team finished sixth Sunday at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational at Sawgrass Country Club, highlighted by a sixth-place finish by senior Martin Rohwer and 12th-place finish by senior Will Cannon.
“Martin and Will had a great tournament,” head coach Alan Murray said. “They are our leaders and have really stepped up so far this spring.”
Rohwer finished even at 216 through 54 holes after shooting a 72 in the tournament’s final round. It’s the second tournament in a row the senior has finished even with par. His 68 on Day Two tied his season-best round.
Cannon posted a top-20 finish, tying for 12th among the field of 86 golfers. Cannon shot 220 (74, 73, 73) to finish at +4.
“Overall, we finished where we deserved, I would say,” Murray said. “We improved on last week; but we still leaked a lot of oil unnecessarily this week, and it cost us.”
The Blazers return to the greens next weekend in Brandon, Oregon. UAB competes in the Brandon Dunes Championship and begins the three-day competition March 6.
