BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB baseball team is adding Georgia native Ethan Lindow (Locust Grove, Ga./Locust Grove) as part of it’s signing class. Lindow has earned All-State honors in back-to-back years.
“After this spring we are losing key left handed pitchers Adam Lamar, Thomas Lowery and Dylan Munger, so bringing in left hand pitching was a high priority,” said UAB head coach Brian Shoop. “We are so grateful to announce that one of the top left handed pitchers in the state of Georgia has signed with us."
Lindow has dazzled on the mound the last two years for head coach Stephen Phillips at Locust Grove while earning multiple honors. He earned Second Team All-State honors in 2015 after going 8-2 with a 1.672 ERA and 52 strikeouts across 36.2 innings.
“Coach (Perry) Roth and Coach (Josh) Hopper see hundreds of pitchers over the course of a summer, and they both saw Ethan pitch for Todd Greene and Mike Godfrey of Team Demarini on multiple occasions,” Shoop said. “When we would review pitchers, Ethan’s name kept coming up as their favorite out of state left-handed pitcher. Ethan played for outstanding summer coaches and the highest level of competition so he will be prepared for DI Baseball.”
In 2016, Lindow was named the 4A Player of the Year, Co-Pitcher of the Year and First Team All-State honoree while leading his team to a state championship. He boasted a 10-1 record with 85 strikeouts over 59.1 innings and a minuscule 0.472 ERA.
“Ethan is another big strong left-handed pitcher whose fastball is ready for college baseball right now,” Shoop continued. “He is competitive, tough and a winner, leading his team to the 4A state championship last spring. We expect that Ethan will play a significant role on our staff immediately and we could not be more excited about him joining our baseball family at UAB.”
