RUSTON, La. – Kathryn Sloan scored the golden goal with just over one minute remaining in double overtime to lead Louisiana Tech to a 2-1 victory over UAB Sunday afternoon from the Lady Techster Soccer Complex.
Au’Dresha Spates found Sloan inside the UAB box for a shot in the 109th minute that lifted the Bulldogs to their third straight win.
Nomvula Kgoale gave Louisiana Tech a 1-0 lead early in the second half on a free kick from approximately 25 yards out.
Blazer freshman Megan Hudgens pulled UAB even in the 82nd minute when she tallied her team-leading fourth goal of the season. The Alpharetta, Ga., native fired a shot from 15 yards out to beat Kylee Seto and finish the regular season with a team-high 11 points on four goals and three assists.
"I can't say enough about the character and the fight of these girls," UAB head coach Harold Warren said. "We've talked a lot as a group about having that type of mentality as a program as we move forward into next season. It's tough not walking away with a win today because we had some chances, but I'm proud of the way the girls continued to fight against another good team."
UAB keeper Kelsey Daugherty registered seven saves and ends the regular season with 86 for the eighth-most in a single season in school history.
