BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB women's soccer team closes out its home stand hosting Louisville on Friday evening before traveling to Mercer on Sunday to begin a three-game road tilt.
UAB and Louisville will take to the pitch on Friday evening at West Campus Field. The match is part of the "Soccer for a Cure" tournament hosted by the UAB men's soccer team.
Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. CT. The UAB men's soccer team will face UIC following the conclusion of the match.
The Blazers will begin a three-game road trip on Sunday when UAB faces Mercer at Bear Field. The match is scheduled for noon.
Live stats and live streaming will be available for the Blazers match with Louisville while live stats will be available on Sunday for the contest at Mercer. UAB Notes
The Series Against Louisville and Mercer
UAB and former C-USA member Louisville have met nine times in program history with UAB leading the series 7-2. The Blazers have won seven of the last eight meetings.
The Blazers hold a 2-0-1 record over the Bears of Mercer in the three previous meetings. The last contest in Macon, Ga., went into double overtime but ended in a scoreless draw.
Scouting the Opponent
Louisville enters Friday's contest with a 2-2-1 record with the Cardinals picking up wins over Wright State, 2-1, and Southeast Missouri State, 2-0. The Cardinals battled Kent State to a 2-all tie in double overtime while dropping decisions to Washington, 2-1, and Kentucky, 1-0. Rachel Avant leads the Cardinals with four points (one goal, two assists) on the season. Paige Brown leads all of Louisville's goalkeepers with 290 minutes in net and a 0.93 goals against average. Brown holds a 1-1-1 record with eight saves.
Mercer currently sits a 1-3-2 overall. The Bears opened the season with back-to-back losses to Tulsa (2-0) and Oklahoma State (2-0). Mercer's lone victory came over C-USA's Charlotte, 2-1. The Bears dropped a match to Appalachian State (2-1) before forcing Tennessee Tech and Gardner-Webb into double overtime. Both matches ended in scoreless ties. Jamilah Tenjan leads the Bears with five points (two goals, one assist). Maggie Cropp has garnered over 460 minutes in goal for Mercer and has allowed only two goals while recording two shutouts.
Dineen Shoots and Scores
Receiving her first playing time of the season last Friday versus Coastal Carolina, senior Alanna Dineen capitalized on the opportunity. Dineen netted the Blazers' lone goal in the 40th minute off an assist from freshman Caroline Kehrer. The goal marked the first of Dineen's collegiate career. Dineen also matched her career high total of shots in a single season (two) in last Friday's match.
