2015 Blazer Baseball Summer League Update

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Five members of the UAB baseball team are spread from Ohio to Alaska competing in various collegiate leagues this summer.
Two Blazers are currently competing in the Alaska Baseball League (Luke Eigsti, Holt Davis), two are playing for the San Luis Obispo Blues in California (Blake Johnson, Mitch Williams), while Ryan Ruggles is representing UAB in the Great Lakes League with the Lima Locos. Brett Blackwood played for the Eau Claire Express in Wisconsin earlier in the summer but has since returned home due to injury.
Below is a look at how each player is performing in the summer league ranks through July 20.
Ryan Ruggles | LHP | Lima Locos (Great Lakes)
Ruggles has been one of the key leaders for Lima thus far in the summer. The Locos lead the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League with a 20-6 record, still with roughly a week left to play. The Sheffield, Ala. native has a 4.09 ERA with a 1-0 record in 11.0 innings pitched with 13 strikeouts and just five earned runs allowed.
Luke Eigsti | RHP | Chugiak Chinooks (Alaska)
A Blazer signee for the 2016 season, Eigsti has pitched in six games for the Chinooks with 10 strikeouts through 10 innings pitched.
Holt Davis | INF | Chugiak Chinooks (Alaska)
Davis is hitting .203 with Chugiak with 10 RBI off four extra-base hits through 22 games.
Blake Johnson | INF | San Luis Obispo Blues (California)
Through 13 games for the Blues, Johnson is hitting .185 with one run driven in and four walks.
Mitch Williams | C | San Luis Obispo Blues (California)
In 15 contests for San Luis, Williams has hit .244 with 10 hits, four for extra bases, and six RBI.
