UAB Tennis Teams Earn ITA All-Academic Team Recognition

In addition, seven Blazer women’s student-athletes and three from the men’s team have been named as ITA Scholar-Athlete award winners.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any member program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.0 scale). All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA, NAIA or Junior/Community College eligibility form and have competed in one or more varsity matches must average into the GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2014 and spring 2015).
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must have a grade point average of at least a 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year.
The Blazer players honored with ITA Scholar-Athlete accolades are as follows: Women’s Team – Paula Castro, Rachel Daniell, Caroline Faught, Pardis Kianoush, Amy Lowther, Catherine Ragon and Elaine Simon; and Men’s Team – Matt Hill, Henry Paiste and Stepan Vancurik.
In May, the UAB men’s and women’s teams received the NCAA Public Recognition Award based on the NCAA Division I 2013-14 Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores,
The UAB women’s tennis team was recognized by Conference USA last week for having the highest team GPA in the league for the 2014-15 academic year.
