BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Junior Martin Rohwer continues to bring in the honors as he was named to the Division I PING Southeast All-Region Team, the GCAA announced on Saturday. It is the first All-Region honor for Rohwer.
An All-Conference USA First Team selection, Rohwer has earned four top-10 finishes and has placed inside the top-20 eight times. He leads UAB with 16 rounds at or under par and percentage of rounds counted (87.1). He is second on the team with four tournaments at or under par and a 72.14 stroke average.
Rohwer recorded his best finish of the season at the NCAA Bremerton Regional, tying for second to help send the Blazers to their second-straight NCAA Championship. He capped off the great tournament with a Gold Mountain Golf Club, course-record 64 (-8) in the final round to finish with a career-best 207 for the three rounds.
This season he has competed in all 12 tournaments for the Blazers. Rohwer earned C-USA Golfer of the Week after posting a 210 (E) to tie for eighth at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate. That tournament sparked a streak of four-straight finishes of 12th or better for the Natal, South Africa native.
Rohwer is currently competing with UAB at the 2015 NCAA Championships this week in Bradenton, Fla.
