Bowling Competes In First Day At Music City Classic

SMYRNA, Tenn. - The No. 16 UAB bowling team picked up two wins at the Music City Classic on Friday. The first day of competition in Smyrna, Tenn. featured five Baker matches.
UAB (56-43) was one of 17 teams that competed in the first day due to weather restricting travel for the rest of the field. The team standings will begin on Saturday.
The Blazers started the day strong with a 915-858 win over Florida A&M in the first match. In the second match, UAB had a bye but bowled for total pinfall with an 811.
Momentum carried over into the third match, as UAB picked up a win over Bethune-Cookman. The Blazers bowled a 909 to top Bethune-Cookman's 888.
UAB was then paired with No. 4 Central Missouri, but fell 967-888 for its first loss of the day. The Blazers then fell to No. 11 McKendree in a close match, 931-892, to close the day 2-2.
The 29-team field will bowl six traditional team matches on Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m. CT.
