UAB Bowling 14th At Music City Classic

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The No. 16 UAB bowling team is in 14th place at the Music City Classic after a total pinfall of 4,613 on Saturday.
UAB (55-47) finished 1-4 in the five traditional games with an average of 184.5 per game.
The Blazers had a tough draw as they opened against No. 11 McKendree. UAB dropped the first game, 1,061-863. In the second game, the Blazers fell to No. 9 Wisconsin-Whitewater, 1,017-950.
UAB then lost the third game to No. 8 Maryland Eastern Shore, 1,058-932. It was a close one in the fourth, but the Blazers were edged by No. 10 North Carolina A&T, 911-849.
In the fifth game, UAB picked up its highest pinfall to defeat Howard, 1,019-890 to close the day strong.
Individually, senior Jenna Mellott led the team with a 194.20 average to finish 39th out of 142 competitors. She recorded a total pinfall of 971 with two games over 200, including a season-high 255.
Sophomore Madeleine McDuff placed 41st with an average of 193.20 in the five games. She scored a 227 to help the Blazers top Howard and finished with a total pinfall of 966.
Fellow Sophomore Lauren Douglas averaged a 174.80 in the five games to place 65th. Freshman Jessica Mellott and senior Ali Long each competed in four games finishing 79th and 80th, respectively.
The teams will conclude the tournament on Sunday with six, five-game Baker matches.
