Game One Recap
UAB was tested early, as the Trojans loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the first. A fielding error, single and batter hit by pitch loaded the bases, but Smith froze a pair of batters looking and got a fielder's choice at third to escape the jam.
After keeping the Trojans off the board in the previous frame, the Blazers took advantage in the top of the second with a Kelly Britt RBI single to the right-center gap. Amy Waters, who was sacrifice bunted to second by Ashley Johnson, scored on the play after pinch running for Mary Warren.
Troy knotted the game up with UAB at one run apiece in the bottom of the sixth, as Becca Hartley put the Trojans on the board with a solo home run over the wall in left center.
UAB tallied four runs in the seventh to cap off the scoring. With one out in the inning, Britt and Attfield set up on first and second after singles. JoJo Fallen followed by putting the ball in play towards second, where a fielding error by the second baseman and a muffed throw at home allowed both runners to score to put the Blazers ahead, 3-1.
UAB's final two runs came off the bat of Davis, as she powered a two-run home run over the left field wall to put the Blazers up, 5-1. Smith retired the Trojans in order in the home half of the frame to seal the game one win.
Game Two Recap
The Trojans got on the board first in game two with a run in the first inning. Troy's Kate Benton led the game off with a single and moved to third on a stolen base and a wild pitch. Hannah Day followed with a double to the left center gap to plate Benton and give the Trojans an early 1-0 lead.
The Blazers tied the game back up at one each in the top of the third. Amy Dennis and Attfield led off the frame with singles, and Williamson followed by driving in Dennis on an RBI single up the middle.
Troy retook the lead in the bottom of the third by answering with a pair of runs. After a back-to-back leadoff walks, Troy's Day sacrifice bunted the runners up a base. Each of them scored on an RBI groundout and wild pitch, respectively, to make the score 3-1.
The Trojans added the final three runs scored in the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. Troy's Carli Kayler led off with a single to right and moved up to second on a sacrifice bunt. Hartley plated her on a double to center, and Ashley Rainey plated two more on a home run to left center, closing the scoring at 6-1.
UAB was unable to manufacture any offense over the final two innings, leaving three runners on base down the stretch.
