Men's Tennis Falls To Southern Miss, 4-2

HATTIESBURG, Miss. ---- Forced to shuffle its lineup due to an injury to Christian Coetzee, the UAB men's tennis team dropped a 4-2 road match to Conference USA foe Southern Miss Friday.
The Blazers (5-6) lost the doubles point but came back to tie the match at 2-2 with wins at the top two singles positions. Donovan McSeveney downed Wen-Po Tseng at No. 1, 6-3, 6-2, while Mitchell Martell was a 6-2, 6-3 winner over USM's Tarun Surat at No. 2.
The Blazers encountered a setback when Coetzee, playing at No. 3, suffered a hamstring injury early in singles play.
The Golden Eagles (13-5) went on to close out the match with wins at No. 4 and 5 singles.
The Blazers will continue the road trip with a match at C-USA opponent UTSA on Monday.
