Blazers Fall 7-0 To No. 70 UTSA Monday

SAN ANTONIO, Texas ---- The UAB men's tennis team ran into a hot UTSA team Monday afternoon as the Blazers suffered a 7-0 defeat to their Conference USA foe.
UAB (5-7,0-3 C-USA) lost the doubles point after dropping matches at the No. 1 and 2 positions and then was swept in singles. The No. 70-ranked Roadrunners (11-6, 3-1 C-USA) won for the ninth time in 11 matches.
Donovan McSeveney extended his match at No. 2 singles to three sets before falling to Yannick Junger by a 5-7, 6-1, 1-0 (11-9) score. Oliver Poyst also fell in a tight three-setter, losing his match at No. 5 singles to Joao Riquelme of UTSA, 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7).
The Blazers will be in action again Tuesday in San Antonio when they take on New Mexico State in a 1:00 p.m. CT match.
