UAB Softball Falls to Chattanooga, 13-0, at Plainsman Invite

AUBURN, Ala. – The UAB softball team fell to the Chattanooga Mocs, 13-0, in five innings on Saturday afternoon at Jane B. Moore Field. UAB (1-2) is set to play its second game of the day against George Washington, with a tentative start time slated for 7:30 p.m. CT.
Starter Cori Jennings (1-0) pitched all five innings for the Mocs (4-0), holding the Blazers without a hit or a run. Lauren Beshel (0-1) was charged with the loss for the Blazers in her first career pitching appearance.
Sophomore outfielder Kelly Britt reached base twice for the Blazers, once on a walk and the other time on a hit by pitch. Junior catcher Ashley Johnson also reached base on a walk in the fifth.
After loading the bases twice, Chattanooga got sacrifice flies from Nicole Osterman and Kailey Palazzolo to plate the first two runs. With two runners left aboard, Anyssa Robles plated three with a home run over the left field wall to give the Mocs a 5-0 lead.
The Mocs added a two-run home run from Sarah Beth Roberts in the top of the second to extend the lead to 7-0.
Chattanooga scored its final six runs to go up 13-0 in the top of the fourth, highlighted by Robles’ second home run of the game, a two-run shot.
