BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB baseball team renews its series with Ohio State that dates back to 1984 to host the Buckeyes for a three-game set this weekend at Regions Field.
First pitch in the series is set for 12 p.m. Saturday in a doubleheader. The two teams will close the series Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Due to Saturday being changed to a doubleheader, admission will be FREE to both games.

Series History
The Blazers and Buckeyes meet this weekend for the first since the 2002 campaign. Entering the weekend, the series is tied at 5-5 with the first meeting coming in 1984.
The Buckeyes come to Birmingham having won three in a row in the series, including a 10-inning, 4-3 contest in the last matchup on Feb. 23, 2002.
Scouting The Opponent
Ohio State comes to Birmingham with a 4-2 overall record and will playing their first games away from the state of Florida. The Buckeyes were picked to finish sixth of 13 teams in the Big 10 standings and had three players on the "Big 10 Players to Watch" list.
The Buckeyes opened the season with four-straight wins, but have since dropped two in a row. They defeated George Mason, Saint Louis and Pittsburgh in Port Charlotte, Fla. to begin 2015 before traveling to Boca Raton last weekend for a three-game set with Florida Atlantic. The Buckeyes won the first contest, 8-2, before falling, 7-0 and 2-1 to the Owls in the final two games.
Craig Nenning enters the weekend as the team's leader in hits (8), while Ronnie Dawson, a Big 10 Preseason Player to Watch, and Nick Sergakis both have five RBI.
The pitching staff is led by starters Ryan Riga, Tanner Tully and Travis Lakins. Riga has a 1-1 record on the year with a 0.75 ERA in two starts, while Tully and Lakins have also started two games each. Junior Jake Post has the team's best ERA in 7.1 innings of relief work with no earned runs allowed.
