Three Wins Highlight Second Day At Stormin' Jack Classic

Day Two Results
HOUSTON, Texas - Freshman Jessica Mellott finished second individually to lead the No. 16 UAB bowling team on the second day of competition at the Stephen F. Austin Stormin' Jack Classic on Saturday. The Blazers are in 14th heading into the final day.
UAB (53-39) finished 3-3 in the six traditional matches with a 5,659 pinfall. The Blazers have now recorded a total pinfall of 11,180 through the first two days.
The first match was a close one as UAB was edged by Louisiana Tech, 919-888. No. 7 Sam Houston State then took the win over the Blazers in the second match, 1,033-902 as UAB fell to 0-2.
The team rebounded in the third match posting a 1,039 to top Tulane's 900, but fell to No. 9 Wisconsin-Whitewater, 1,129-960 heading into the final two matches of the day.
UAB picked its momentum back up with a 954-895 over Louisiana Tech. The Blazers closed out the day strong as they pulled out a win over Prairie View, 916-905.
Individually, Mellott cracked the top-10 for the first time in her career. She bowled over 200 in five of the six games, including a high of 243, to finish with a total pinfall of 1,278. Senior Leah Walker was the next highest finisher placing 38th. Walker recorded a 1,163 total pinfall to average 193.83 on the day.
Sophomore Madeleine McDuff took 44th after totaling a 1,131 for 188.50 average. Seniors Ali Long and Marissa Ferreira finished 57th and 79th, respectively.
