Blazers Set To Host Samford Monday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB women's basketball team is set to host crosstown rival Samford Monday at Bartow Arena. The Blazers and Bulldogs are slated to tip off at 1 p.m. CT.
The Blazers are looking to win their 12th consecutive home game dating back to last season.

Blazer Bullets
- The Blazers are 3-1 all-time against Samford. The Bulldogs picked up their first win in the series on Dec. 6, 2014, by a score of 70-41.
- After missing the previous game against South Alabama, senior Chelsee Black recorded her career-high vs. Troy with 31 points and five treys.
- In four home games this season, UAB is defeating opponents by an average margin of 38.0 points per game.
- Deanna Kuzmanic is the only freshman in Conference USA to lead her team in minutes played.
- Brittany Winborne is currently leading C-USA in rebounding with 9.3 per game.
Notes
Last Time Out
UAB continued it's solid play at home, knocking off Troy 89-67 Friday night at Bartow Arena. In addition to Chelsee Black's career-high 31 points, Deanna Kuzmanic tallied 19 points on 5-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc. Brittany Winborne added 14 points and 10 rebounds to record her second consecutive double-double.
Scouting the Opponent
Samford heads into Monday's matchup coming off a 54-35 victory over Alabama State on Thursday in Montgomery, Ala. The Bulldogs are paced on both ends of the floor by Destiny Elliot, who is averaging 8.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. Samford possesses a 3-5 road record thus far on the season.
Home Court Advantage
UAB has started the 2015-16 home schedule off the same way it finished last season. The Blazers are 4-0 at home after decisive victories over South Carolina State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Mississippi Valley State and Troy. The Blazers are 23-10 at Bartow Arena under head coach Randy Norton and are looking to make it 12 straight home wins on Monday.
Cleaning The Glass
Brittany Winborne has been a force in the post all season. The senior forward is leading C-USA in rebounds per game with 9.3. She has also taken advantage of her opportunities on the offensive end of floor. Winborne is fifth in the conference with a .561 shooting percentage and is currently averaging 9.5 points per game. As a unit, UAB is out-rebounding opponents 432-329.
Conference USA Tournament Back In Birmingham
The Conference USA Men's and Women's Basketball Championship is set to return to Birmingham for the second consecutive year, marking the third time the Blazers will host the event. The men's tournament as well as the women's semifinals and championship will be played at Legacy Arena in downtown Birmingham, while the women's first round and quarterfinal action will take place at UAB's Bartow Arena.
