Blazers Take On Belmont Sunday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB women’s basketball team will travel to Nashville, Tenn. to meet Belmont on Sunday in the Curb Event Center. The Blazers and Bruins are set to tip off at 4 p.m. CT.
UAB (0-1) is looking to bounce back after an 85-71 loss to Auburn Friday night, while Belmont (1-0) is coming off an 80-31 win vs. Young Harris.

ABOUT THE GAME
- UAB leads the all-time series with Belmont 2-0, with both Blazers wins coming at home in Bartow Arena. The last matchup took place in 2010.
- The Bruins were chosen to finish third in the 2015-16 OVC pre-season poll, behind SIUE and UT Martin.
- Chelsee Black has started every game each of the last two seasons for UAB. Black is the top returning scorer after averaging 12.7 points per game in 2014-15.
- Belmont finished the 2014-15 season with a 10-6 OVC record, with three of its top four scorers returning from last season.
- Head coaches Randy Norton and Cameron Newbauer will face off against each other for the first time.

ABOUT THE BLAZERS
- Senior captain Chelsee Black scored a team-high 22 points vs. the Tigers, hitting 4-of-11 from deep. She added four assists and picked up two rebounds.
- UAB knocked down 12 three-point field goals in the season opener vs. Auburn, shooting a 42.9% 3-point field goal percentage.
- Deanna Kuzmanic got the Blazers started by knocking down two of her five three-pointers to open the game. She finished the night with 17 points along with two assists, and two boards.
- UAB showed off its depth in the season opener with 12 Blazers seeing the floor on Friday.
- Brittany Winborne had team-high 10 rebounds on the night, coming up just shy of a double-double with eight points.
- The Blazers did damage near the basket at Auburn converting 22 points in the paint and totaling ten offensive rebounds.
Conference USA Tournament Back In Birmingham


The Conference USA Men's and Women's Basketball Championship is set to return to Birmingham for the second consecutive year, marking the third time the Blazers will host the event. The men's tournament as well as the women's semifinals and championship will be played at the BJCC in downtown Birmingham, while the women's first round and quarterfinal action will take place at UAB's Bartow Arena.
