Women's Basketball Picked Eighth in C-USA Preseason Poll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB women's basketball team was picked to finish eighth in Conference USA according to the C-USA Preseason Poll, which was released Thursday by the league office.
The Blazers are coming off an 18-13 campaign in 2014-15, including an 11-7 record in C-USA play, the best finish for the program since the 2006-07 season. It also marked just the second time since 1993-94 the Blazers won 11 conference games.
UAB returns 10 players from last season's team, including three starters, Chelsee Black, Kayla Anderson and Janeka Williams. Four players will be suiting up in the Green and Gold for the first time in the upcoming season, two of which are transfers along with two freshmen.
Middle Tennessee was picked to win the league crown as voted on by the C-USA head coaches, while the Blue Raiders' Olivia Jones was named the Preseason Player of the Year.
Old Dominion was picked second in the poll, followed by WKU, Southern Miss and UTEP.
UAB was also picked to finish eighth in the 2014-15 C-USA Preseason Poll, but finished tied for fourth in the league and advanced to the second round of the C-USA Tournament.
UAB opens the 2015-16 slate with two exhibitions, the first set for Oct. 31 versus Mississippi College in Bartow Arena. The Blazers will also face Miles College Nov. 5, before opening the regular season Nov. 13 at Auburn.
The 2015-16 season will culminate with the 2016 C-USA Basketball Championship, March 8-12 in Birmingham. UAB will serve as the host school for the second year in a row.

Women's basketball individual season tickets are just $50 for UAB's 16 home games and single-game tickets run $5 for adults and $3 for youth (ages 6-17). All children ages five and under are admitted free, and UAB students also receive free admission with a valid I.D.
