UAB Volleyball Falls to No. 22 WKU in Three Sets

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The UAB women’s volleyball team falter at No. 22 Western Kentucky as the Lady Toppers defeated the Blazers in straight sets Friday at E.A. Diddle Arena.
The WKU (22-2, 9-0 C-USA) offense dominated from the start with 25-15 and 25-11 victories in set one and set two to carry a 2-0 advantage over the Blazers (8-17, 0-10 C-USA) at the break.
The Lady Toppers secured the three-set sweep with a 25-10 victory in the final set.
Senior Sydney Nelson led the Blazer offense with six kills while attacking at a .154 clip. Junior Gabby Deshotel added five kills to the UAB attack.
Junior Amber Treace dished out 13 helpers, and junior libero Emma Schroer paced the UAB defense with 10 digs.
Nolle Langenkamp and Sydney Engle topped the WKU offense with seven kills each.
UAB continues its road trip on Sunday as the Blazers face Southern Miss in Hattiesburg, Miss. First serve against the Golden Eagles is set for 1 p.m. CT.
