Women's Soccer Comes Up Short to Louisiana Tech

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB women's soccer team came up short against Conference USA foe Louisiana Tech, 2-1, Friday night at West Campus Field.
In a match that was fairly even statistically, the Lady Techsters (8-5, 1-2 C-USA) came out of the halftime break and scored within a minute in what would be the game-winner.
UAB (1-9, 0-3 C-USA) overcame a 1-0 deficit midway through the first half, rallying to tie it at 1-1 in the 32nd minute. Senior defender Ashley Naumoff dished a perfect cross to Kasey Johnson, who slid one past the keeper for her third goal of the season.
The final tally of the match came at the 45:28 mark when Louisiana Tech's Mylene Roy-Ouellet scored off a Kathryn Sloan assist.
The Blazers took nine shots with Johnson's one coming on goal, while Louisiana Tech took 10 for two on target.
Kelsey Daugherty made three saves in goal for the Blazers, and the two teams combined for six yellow cards in the match.
UAB returns to the pitch next Friday against Marshall at 7 p.m. at West Campus Field.
