Doubles Play Highlights Blazers' Play At Southern Regional

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ---- Two UAB doubles teams won Round of 16 matches Friday to highlight the Blazers’ action on the second day of the USTA/ITA Southern Regional Championships.
The Blazers’ team of Christian Coetzee and Luiz Pinto, seeded 5-8, downed Samford’s Fares Kilani and Eduardo Lourido Sanchez, 8-7 (5). Mitchell Martell and Kenton Parton were 8-6 winners over Alabama’s 5-8 seeded duo of Becker O’Shaughnessey and Nikko Madregallejo.
Meanwhile, in the main draw of singles, Martell fell in his Round of 32 match to Tuki Jacobs of South Alabama, 6-1, 6-1.
In consolation singles, UAB won two of three matches with Pinto and Eric Komati winning and Oliver Poysti losing his match.
