Louisiana Tech Downs UAB Volleyball in Straight Sets

RUSTON, La. - Junior Gabby Deshotel recorded her ninth double-double of the season as UAB volleyball fell in straight sets to Louisiana Tech Sunday at the Thomas Assembly Center.
The Blazers (7-15, 0-8 C-USA) opened the match with three-straight kills in the first set before the Lady Techsters (7-12, 1-5 C-USA) landed a point. The squads battled neck and neck with four ties until Louisiana Tech recorded six-consecutive points to win, 25-18.
The second set began in similar fashion with the Blazers opening the set with a 3-0 advantage. UAB extended its lead to six points at the midway mark, 17-11, before Louisiana Tech went on a 7-1 run to cut the UAB lead to, 18-17.

Louisiana Tech led the majority of set three until the Blazers stormed back to fight off three set points to locked the score at 24-all.
The two squads would swap set points three times until a ball handing error on junior Amber
Deshotel recorded her ninth double-double of the season with a team-leading 15 kills and 10 digs while attacking at a .233 clip. Freshman Victoria Young garnered a team-high attacking percentage of .412 while totaling nine kills.

UAB returns to Bartow Arena on Tuesday as the Blazers host Alabama State in a non-conference match. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
