RUSTON, La. - Junior Gabby Deshotel recorded her ninth double-double of the season as UAB volleyball fell in straight sets to Louisiana Tech Sunday at the Thomas Assembly Center.

The Blazers (7-15, 0-8 C-USA) opened the match with three-straight kills in the first set before the Lady Techsters (7-12, 1-5 C-USA) landed a point. The squads battled neck and neck with four ties until Louisiana Tech recorded six-consecutive points to win, 25-18.

The second set began in similar fashion with the Blazers opening the set with a 3-0 advantage. UAB extended its lead to six points at the midway mark, 17-11, before Louisiana Tech went on a 7-1 run to cut the UAB lead to, 18-17.

The squads were locked at 22-all before the Lady Techsters capitalized on UAB errors to win set two, 25-23, and hold a 2-0 advantage at the break.

Louisiana Tech led the majority of set three until the Blazers stormed back to fight off three set points to locked the score at 24-all.

The two squads would swap set points three times until a ball handing error on junior Amber Treace's set gave the Lady Techster the set, 29-27, and the match, 3-0.

Deshotel recorded her ninth double-double of the season with a team-leading 15 kills and 10 digs while attacking at a .233 clip. Freshman Victoria Young garnered a team-high attacking percentage of .412 while totaling nine kills.

Freshman Kassidy Sullivan added seven kills to the Blazer attack. Setter Treace dished out 36 assists while adding three digs, one ace and one kill for the Blazers.

Marta Monne tallied 12 kills and a .139 clip to lead the Lady Techsters. Louisiana Tech closed the match with 43 total kills and a team attacking percentage of .205. UAB garnered 42 kills at a team clip of .226.

UAB returns to Bartow Arena on Tuesday as the Blazers host Alabama State in a non-conference match. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
