Third Annual Student-Athlete Thank-A-Thon Is Underway

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The third annual student-athlete thank-a-thon is being held this week, January 26-30, in the Blazer Boosters office. Upwards of 100 student-athletes will volunteer their time to call every 2014 Blazer Boosters member to personally thank them for providing the financial support necessary for them to compete in their sport while earning a first class education.
“It is rewarding to UAB student-athletes to embrace this effort once again,” Associate Athletic Director for Development Brad Hardekopf said. “Each of these young men and women does an outstanding job of showing Blazer Boosters members how much their financial support means. We hope our Blazer Boosters members enjoy receiving a heart-felt thank you from the student-athletes they invest in.”
Blazer Boosters are alumni and friends of UAB who recognize the value of the student-athlete experience. Donations to Blazer Boosters generate funding for student-athlete scholarships, capital projects and facility improvements, and the enhancement of sport-specific operating budgets. Relative to the investment of 2014 Blazer Boosters members, UAB had a record high of 243 Blazers earn a 3.0 GPA during the 2014 fall term.
The 2015 giving year is underway and Blazer fans have an opportunity to Be the Difference in the lives of our student-athletes by becoming a 2015 Blazer Boosters member. A Blazer Boosters membership begins at $100 with payment plans available. Depending on your membership level, your 2015 Blazer Boosters membership will provide you benefits such as priority seating, hospitality access, parking, Gold Card, and invitations to private events.
