Student-Athlete Of The Week: Leah Walker

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior Leah Walker of the UAB women’s bowling team was named the UAB Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced on Tuesday. The Student-Athlete of the Week recognizes student-athletes who excel on and off their respective fields of competition.
The Dallas, Ga., native has helped lead the bowling program thus far in the 2014-15 season. She led the Blazers with a seventh place finish at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Invite back in October, averaging a score of 208.40.
In her next event, Walker placed 12th at the Hornet Classic in Montgomery, where she helped the Green and Gold to a second place overall finish. In the last two contests, she has helped guide UAB to a ninth and eighth-place finish.
In the classroom, Walker has maintained a 3.58 GPA at UAB majoring in communications studies. She was named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll following her freshman season. Walker and the Blazers return to action this weekend at the Kutztown Invitational in Reading, Penn.
