NASHVILLE, Tenn. ----- The UAB track team claimed fifth-place finishes from a group of four competitors Saturday as action concluded at the two-day Commodore Invitational.
The meet was held at the Vanderbilt Indoor Complex.
Rebecca Evans, Jessica Shelley, Jenna Wesley and Kandiss Briggs all notched fifth-place efforts on Saturday.
"We continued to take some nice steps forward," said head coach Kurt Thomas. "We saw some good improvements in some areas. Rebecca Evans ran a great mile and finished top 5 in a good field and Jenna Wesley had a good 800m race.
"The multi's continued to get in lots of events to prepare for the Pentathlon next week, so we look forward to them getting that in. We still have lots to work on to become a better team, but these races are giving us more and more experience to get there."
Evans finished fifth in the mile run at 4:58.64, Shelley notched a top five effort in the 60-meter hurdles (8.80) with teammate Autumn Burnett sixth at 8.84.
