UAB Wraps Up First Day At Commodore Invitational

NASHVILLE, Tenn. ---- The UAB track and field team began competition Friday at the Commodore Invitational as the Blazers turned in five top 10 performances in three events.
The meet continues Saturday with a full schedule at the Vanderbilt Indoor Complex.
Junior Lucy Crookes placed fourth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:20.91.
In the long jump, Renay Ransaw had the best effort in her flight at 5.39m (17-8 1/4) and finished ninth. Teammate Ali Meister jumped 5.14m (16-10 1/2) and was 14th overall. Both were season-best performances for the Blazers.
Meanwhile, UAB senior Shelby Barker tied teammate Hannah Hensley for 10th with a high jump performance of 1.56m (5-1 1/4), also season-best efforts.
