BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB men's golf team sits third on the leaderboard after two rounds at the 2014 Shoal Creek Invitational, hosted by Graeme McDowell. The Blazers finished with a 36-hole total of 574 (-2) on Monday.
"The guys did well, we had some really good rounds today," said head coach Alan Murray. "Will shot 5-under this morning and Paul shot under par. Lee Hodges, Taylor McCullum and Paul all shot even pars this afternoon."
UAB opened strong in the first round, posting a 4-under 284 to be in second place heading into the second round. The Blazers followed with a 290 (+2) in the second round. Alabama currently leads the field with a 566 (-10) and North Florida is second after posting a 4-under 572.

"Todd Green did an outstanding job today managing the troupes for us today," Murray stated. "I wasn't able to be on the course much in the first round and he did a great job with the guys on the course."
In the second round, three Blazers finished even par with Dunne, Hodges and redshirt freshman Taylor McCullum all recording a 72. Cannon and Rohwer each finished with a 2-over 74.
Cannon and Dunne are both ranked in the top-10 individually. Cannon is tied for fifth with a 141 (-3) total and Dunne is ninth with a 142 (-2) through two rounds.
Hodges totaled a 1-over 145 to be tied for 15th, Rohwer is tied for 29th with a 148 (+4) and McCullum has a 36-hole total 150 (+6).
Henry James, Taylor Eyster and Ryan Davies all competed as individuals for the Blazers today. James carded an 8-over 151, Eyster was 13-over and Davies finished 18-over.
"The guys seemed to be disappointed with their scores, but they are always disappointed with their scores to be honest," said Murray. "There were plenty of positives there. We are a little bit back of Alabama so we will have to play a very good round tomorrow, but we have a chance."
UAB will return to the course for the final round on Tuesday with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. CT from the first and 10th tees. The Blazers are set to start at 8:24 a.m. CT and the individuals will start at 7:30 a.m. CT.
