BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men’s golf team will hold its home tournament, the 2014 Shoal Creek Invitational, hosted by Graeme McDowell, for the third-straight year. The two-day event runs from Monday, Sept. 29 through Tuesday, Sept. 30 at the Shoal Creek Country Club.
"We are really excited to play our home tournament at Shoal Creek," head coach Alan Murray said. "The boys are playing well and looking forward to the challenge. There are some very good teams here and we will have to play well to contend. That is going to be the challenge for our guys. We have a three-week stretch of good tournaments that gives us an opportunity to see where we stand on a national level."
The 54-hole tournament will feature some of the top teams in college golf. Of the 12 teams competing, five finished among the top 50 in the nation last season according to the Golfstat.com final 2013 rankings, while 10 of the 12 were ranked among the top 70.
Along with UAB the field includes, 2013 National Champion Alabama, Georgetown, Georgia Southern, Liberty, Memphis, Mississippi State, North Florida, Ole Miss, Samford, Southeastern Louisiana and UCF.
