Men's Tennis Faces Busy Schedule This Weekend

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The UAB men's tennis team will split its squad this weekend as the Blazers will be in action at two different locations in a full slate of tournament play.
Both tournaments will run Friday through Sunday, Sept. 26-28.
Christian Coetzee and Donovan McSeveney head to Tuscaloosa to participate in the Crimson Tide Four-In-The-Fall tournament.
The Blazer tandem are one of 12 schools that will be represented in the three-day event. There are three 16-player singles draws and three 8-team doubles brackets.
The Coetzee/McSeveney duo will get things started Friday morning in doubles play when they meet the Illinois team of Toshiki Matsuya and Brian Page at 9 a.m. ET.
Both Coetzee and McSeveney will be in singles action later in the day. Coetzee takes on Ciro Riccardi of Dartmouth while McSeveney plays Robin Riethmuller. Both matches are scheduled for 1 p.m. starts.
Meanwhile, seven UAB players will make the trip to Atlanta to take part in the Georgia Tech Invitational. Luiz Pinto, Mitchell Martell, Matthew Hill and Trey McCombs will join newcomers Christopher Egan-Morris, Oliver Poysti and Henry Paiste in the event that runs Friday through Sunday.
Georgia Tech is hosting 48 players from nine different schools in three singles brackets and three doubles draws at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex. Competition begins at 9 a.m. each day and culminates in championship matches on Sunday.
Pinto is UAB's entry in the White Draw and will take on No. 1 seeded Joseph Van Dooren of Auburn in first round play at 12:00 p.m. ET.
In the Gold Draw, Egan-Morris will meet Georgia State's Valentin Horvat at 10:30 a.m. ET while Martell goes against Elijah Melendez of host Georgia Tech at 2:30. Hill plays Oliver Plaskett of Auburn at 11 a.m.
In the Buzz Draw, UAB's Poysti has a first round bye before meeting the winner of the match between Evan Holvoet (Kennesaw State) and Michael Beiler (Florida Gulf Coast) Saturday at 10 a.m. ET.
