Student-Athlete Of The Week: Aaron Getman-Pickering

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Redshirt sophomore Aaron Getman-Pickering of the UAB men's soccer team was named the UAB Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced on Monday. The Student-Athlete of the Week recognizes student-athletes who excel on and off their respective fields of competition.
The New Paltz, N.Y. native is in his third year at UAB after redshirting in 2012 and competing in his freshman season last year. He has a 4.0 GPA in the honors program majoring in history and was awarded the Conference USA Academic Medal both in 2012 and 2013.
Getman-Pickering saw action in three matches last season with one assist, but has played in all six of UAB's contests thus far in 2014.
He had a career night on Friday as UAB opened up the "Soccer For A Cure" Classic against Vermont. The sophomore recorded his first career goal in the Blazers' 4-1 win over the Catamounts and helped the team claim the tournament championship for the 10th time in 17 years.
Getman-Pickering and the Blazers will return to action on Saturday with a non-conference road matchup against Coastal Carolina.
