Football Looking To See Continued Improvement Saturday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football took to the practice fields Thursday afternoon to work on its final preparations before playing host to Alabama A&M on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT.
Head coach Bill Clark and the Blazers spent the week preparing for a balanced Alabama A&M team that has the ability keep the ball on the ground and execute the passing game.
"With their pistol formation, they are going to be able to run the ball and force you to play assignment football," Clark said. "That opens up the play-action game. Both of their quarterbacks have really good arms. They have a lot of speed on the perimeters. We are going to have to play our assignments and stop the run."
Clark knows that along with focusing on a challenging opponent, this weekend's game will also be an opportunity for UAB to show its improvement from the first two games of the season.
"I think we are seeing an Alabama A&M team that is very similar to us," Clark remarked. "They made a huge change from game one to game two. So for us, did we take another step? Did we keep getting better, did we eliminate the mistakes we made the first two weeks. Also, it is good to get back home. Anytime we are back home we get to put on a show for our fans so we want to do well."
UAB and the Bulldogs kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT Saturday at Legion Field. Saturday's contest can be seen on the American Sports Network (WABM MyTV Channel 68 In Birmingham). Fans can listen to the contest on the Blazer IMG Sports Network (WUHT-FM 107.7 FM) with David Crane, Steve Irvine and Sam Miller on the call. Pregame begins approximately one hour before kickoff.
