BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Former members of the UAB men’s golf team have remained active on professional tours all across the world in 2014. Nine former Blazers are currently playing professionally.
Graeme McDowell earned a top-10 finish this past weekend at The Open Championship. McDowell placed ninth after scoring a 278 (-10) for the four-round event at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club. With six top-10 finishes on the year, he ranks 51st in the PGA Tour Fed Ex Cup Standings.
Two weekends ago, Will Wilcox played in the John Deere Classic. Wilcox missed the cut after firing a 144 (+2) He has two top-10 finishes on the year and is in 152nd place in the FedEx Cup Standings.
Zack Sucher continues to shine on the Web.com Tour. Sucher placed fourth last weekend at the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft Nabisco. He opened the event with a 60 (-11) en route to a 265 (-19) for the tournament. Sucher is 20th on the Web.com Tour Money List.
Garrett Osborn is on the Web.com Tour for the 2014 season with Sucher. Osborn missed the cut in the past two tournaments he has played in and is 119th on the tour money list.
Kyle Sapp remains active on the Emerald Coast Professional Golf Tour. Sapp is currently in seventh place on the 2014 money list.
Sam Love is currently in 42nd place on the Hopkins Golf Pro Tour Money List. Most recently, Love placed 21st at the Woodstock Classic, his second top-25 finish of the season.
Hunter Hawkins is seven places behind Love on the Hopkins Tour Money List. In his last event, Hawkins just missed the cut by one stroke at the Woodstock Classic.
Thomas Sutton is 10 places behind Hawkins on the tour money list. Like Hawkins, Sutton just missed the cut in his latest event. Sutton was even-par at the Woodstock Classic, two strokes shy of the cut.
Wilson McDonald is the fourth former Blazer on the Hopkins Tour. McDonald currently is in 75th place on the money list after a 30th place finish at the Oak Mountain Classic.
