Dunne Earns All-America Accolades

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Rising senior Paul Dunne of the UAB men’s golf team earned Division I PING All-America Third Team honors, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced on Thursday. Dunne becomes the fifth player in program history to earn All-America accolades.
Dunne becomes the first member of the UAB men’s golf team to be named an All-American since Brad Smith and Zach Sucher in 2008. In addition, Dunne becomes the fourth golfer in school history to be named to the All-America Third Team or better.
The Greystones, Ireland native led the team with a 71.5 stroke average over 39 rounds played during the 2013-14 campaign. He also led the squad in percentage of rounds counted (90), rounds at or under par (20), scoring differential (2.51), top-five finishes (5), top-10 finishes (6), top-20 finishes (10), tournaments at or under par (5), and wins (2).
For his efforts on the course, Dunne was named to the 2014 All-Conference USA First Team. Dunne became the fourth Blazer to earn Conference USA Golfer of the Year honors, as well. He earned a spot on the Division I PING All-Southeast Region Team. Dunne also was invited to participate in the 2014 Palmer Cup as a member of the European Team.
Dunne is not only a standout on the links, but is a stalwart in the classroom. Dunne became the second player in program history to earn Academic All-America honors earlier this month. The business finance major owns a 3.83 cumulative GPA. He is a three-time Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll honoree, has earned the C-USA Academic Medal twice, and was named to the 2014 Conference USA All-Academic Team.
